It's a New Year

posted date: Friday 24th January 2020

Welcome to the year 2020!

I can hardly believe that January is nearly finished and a 12th of the year is gone and it is nearly February.

With the New Year also comes some exciting developments in the life of Avonhead Baptist Church.

· Applications for the position of Assistant Pastor are now open. Closing date is 5pm 28th February. Please contact Jonathan Weusten if you would like to recommend someone or are interested in further information.

· 9th February we move to two identical morning worship services, 9am and 11am.  This will allow the church to increase the seating capacity allowing for more people to be able to worship and honour our triune God.

· In 2020 we will continue our rhythm of an all age communion service at the start of each month. From March onwards, this again will also be a repeated service at 9am and 11am.

· Children’s ministry will be run at both services. As is the nature of all changes, there will be adjustments and changes according as we see how things shape up during the year.

· We will continue to have tea and coffee, but this will be held after the first service and before the second service.

· This week we are starting two prayer meetings at the church—7.30am Tuesday mornings and 9am Friday mornings. These are open to all to gather and pray for matters relating to the life of the church.

As with all changes, I am sure that there will be some growing pains. Having to choose which service to attend will be an adjustment to our thinking, and also those who volunteer as to how this will best work. So we ask for your prayer and support during the initial few months.

I confess that I am excited about 2020, not only because of the changes that are happening, but because I am looking forward to seeing what God has planned for us in the days ahead.

Shalom
