Please join with me in prayer... 15 December 2019

posted date: Friday 13th December 2019

As I write this it is the 10th of December and it is only 15 days until Christmas. My how time flies.

As I ponder, I have been thinking about the number of situations in which Christmas is celebrated without Christ at the centre. I was listening to the radio recently and the announcer commented about the lack of Christmas carols at the recent Christmas in the Park. TV advertising is all about moving products. I wonder if the younger children of this nation will grow up knowing anything of Christ in Christmas.

It is for this reason that I asked you to join with me in praying for the Community Carol service this Sunday evening. This event is designed to tell the story of Jesus in a clear and understandable manner. It takes a lot of effort (and people) to bring us together. But we do so in order that the true meaning of Christmas can be told in this festive season.

· So can you stand together in prayer, that people hear clearly the wonder of God’s love displayed at Christmas through the birth His son Jesus.

· Please pray for the church to find favour with the community in seeking to tell the Jesus story.

· Please consider inviting family and friends along to the event. The start time has been brought forward this year to 6.00pm to enable younger ones to able to attend and then it will not finish too late.

Finally, a reminder there will be a number of services you can attend to celebrate Christ’s birth. St Christopher's are holding a 6:30pm family service Christmas Eve, followed by a traditional 11.00pm service in which Avonhead Baptist will be participating.

9.00am on Christmas Day will be our Christmas family service.

Finally, as you prepare for Christmas, in the last few days may you know the peace of God in these busy days and find ways to celebrate the reality and truth of God’s amazing love displayed in sending Jesus.
