I've been Thinking - 27 October 2019

What have you been worrying about this week? If you are like me then plenty! It seems there are endless things in our lives to worry about. Some on my list include; elderly parents, children, work issues, finances, trying to fit a lot in a day, health of friends, etc. I’m sure you can relate. Sometimes these worries overwhelm us causing issues with our health and well being and affecting those around us.

In our home group I recently shared this quote that we all seemed to find helpful:

Worry is a conversation we have with ourselves about things
we cannot change.

Prayer is a conversation we have with God about things He can change.

Why do we worry when we can take it to the Lord in prayer? He promises in
Psalm 55:22 ‘Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you’.

The words of an old hymn come to mind. “What a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and grief to bear, what a privilege to carry, everything to God in prayer. Oh what peace we often forfeit, Oh what needless pain we bear. All because we do not carry, everything to God in prayer.”

Let drop the worry and just pray. How about writing the quote on your fridge!
