I been thinking ...

posted date: Friday 2nd August 2019

Like many people today, as a part of my being a registered Baptist Minister I am required to engage in ongoing professional development.

For me, a part of my development has involved auditing a Masters paper at Carey Baptist Theological College. Auditing means I get to sit in on the block course lectures without having to do all the assignment work.

As I sit, considering and pondering all that is being taught, I am caught again by the reality that there is always something new to learn about God. A number of the comments that came from this course last weekend made me inwardly gasp at the amazing nature of the awesome triune God we worship, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

It also causes me to think about the nature of the God that we worship,
where there is always something new to understand and “see”.
Isaiah 43:19 I am about to do a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.

What is the “new” thing that God is doing in your life? What has God been saying to you? How has God been encouraging you to step out of your comfort zone? It is called a comfort zone because it is a place of comfort, ease and safety.

Are you willing to take courage in your hands and with faith in your heart, to take that step?

Let me pray for you, and for us!

Lord Jesus, allow us to clearly know what “new things” you are calling us to.  Then would you give us the courage to step into those things we pray. To you be the glory alone.  Amen.
