I've been Thinking - 2 June 2019

posted date: Friday 31st May 2019

We are now into week two of Missions Month.

The theme of the Prayer and Self Denial this year is “Where God Leads”.

As you enter the church on Sunday, you will be given a small booklet that gives some background into the Prayer and Self Denial appeal, but also into the work of the New Zealand Baptist Missionary Society.

One reflection that caught my attention recently was on the Tranzsend website, and “Arnie” (see the booklet) commented that most of those serving overseas didn’t have missions on their agenda. Rather that it was God who called them to service overseas. “Where God Leads”.

I can confirm that this is certainly the case for Karen and I. It was somewhat of a surprise when God called Karen and I to serve overseas.

As we travel through this Missions Month, can I ask you to pray this simple prayer?

“God, where are you leading me?”

Let me finish this reflection with a prayer.

“Mission hearted God, who sent your precious Son out to bring your love to this world, speak to us, speak to each person who asks You. Where are you leading them?  Make your voice clear in the midst of life.  Open our hearts to where you are leading us. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.”
