I've been Thinking - 7 April 2019

posted date: Friday 5th April 2019

Firstly, thank you to all those who helped with the set-up, morning tea, music, etc. at Russley School last Sunday. A special thank you to Elizabeth and Bruce Muschamp who were there early, left late and could not do enough to help.

A number of people asked me why we were at Russley School, rather than at Avonhead Road. There are a couple of reasons.

1. Over the last year or so, the church has been growing.  There will come a day in which we cannot all be accommodated in one service.  Therefore, every 5th Sunday we will gather together, as we did last Sunday.

2. It is a reminder that as God’s people, we are called to “go”. It may be symbolic to go to another venue. Nevertheless, it reminds us that as Noreen Wright shared on Sunday, even though we may have “butterflies” (nerves) God calls us to walk in obedience to Him, even if it means us being somewhat uncomfortable.

3. It provides us an opportunity to invite people to a service that is simple and open to all.

And as we are only a couple of weeks away from celebrating Easter, we are reminded that Jesus Himself set the example of “going”, coming to earth, living as one of us because of His great love for us.

Food for thought.
