I've been Thinking - 25 November 2018

posted date: Friday 23rd November 2018

Our God is an awesome God, He is mighty, He can move mountains, He is the King of Kings and He is a great God.

Often, when I think of Him, I think that because He is a mighty God that He will speak loudly and clearly and I will know it is Him.

But lately, God has been speaking to me in the quiet, in a whisper – often repeating Himself because I am not listening carefully enough. Recently God has been saying to me ‘Come to the quiet, seek the Lord and he’ll be found.’

As I spend time in the quiet, waiting for God to speak, I have come to recognise His words, obey them, and grow closer to Him.

This week I encourage you to make time and space to listen for God’s voice, whether it be quiet and gentle or loud and clear.

1 Kings 19:11—12 (NIV)

The Lord said, “Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the Lord, for the Lord is about to pass by.” Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper.
