Words are powerful

You are hopeless … You are of no use … You …

I am sure we have all heard words like this within our lifetime. For some, these words become defining, creating images of ourselves that can become limiting and stumbling blocks.

Consider what the Bible says about you:

1 John 3:1”See what love the Father has given us, that we should be called children of God; and that is what we are. …”

Psalm 139:13-14 “For it was you who formed my inward parts; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; that I know very well.”

Philippians 4:13“I can do all things through him who strengthens me.”

Luke 12:11-12When they bring you before the synagogues, the rulers, and the authorities, do not worry about how you are to defend yourselves or what you are to say; for the Holy Spirit will teach you at that very hour what you ought to say.”

As you ponder the teaching of the last few months, that we are all called to disciple others, what has your response been? Or maybe a better question is which voice do you listen to?

I cannot do that or I can do all things?

God has a plan for your life that when found stretches, encourages, changes us to allow the Spirit of God to make us more like Jesus, and to then share the wonder of God’s love through the healing and restoration God does within our lives.

Which voice are you listening to?
