I've been Thinking - 25 March 2018

posted date: Friday 23rd March 2018

I write this on Wednesday morning, after our AGM and there are a number of matters I need to give praise to God for.

Firstly to Jocelyn Murray and her team.  Thank you for all you did in making sure that the shared dinner was a great time of fellowship.  It was a wonderful way to start the evening.

I am grateful to God for people like Catherine Khor and Shifera Anggawijaya for leading us in worship in song and Ian Payton for the thought provoking devotion before the “business meeting”. It was a timely reminder that our purpose for being together is to give God the glory He is due.

The AGM itself was held in a wonderful spirit of unity and well chaired by Eleanor Ragg. There were the usual presentations of finances and reports etc. There were a couple of additional matters discussed that we would like to bring to the attention of those who call Avonhead Baptist Church home.

●     Please book Saturday 5th May into your diary. We are planning a church “Hui” to discuss the subject “we are full, what is God saying is next?” More details to follow but this time will be open to all, including children.

●      Lauren Weusten introduced a proposed new logo for the church and explained the development process. This has taken in excess of 6 months as we sought to create a logo that reflected the churches mission statement, “Discipling the Nations  across the Ages”. The adoption of the logo was unanimously agreed by those at the meeting. A copy of the new logo will be introduced in the service this Sunday morning.

For all these matters, and the sense in the meeting of God’s faithfulness and grace towards us we, I am thankful.

As we enter the last week of Lent, it is with this spirit of thankfulness that I reflect not just on an AGM, but the work of the cross at Easter which means we can know true freedom and wholeheartedly thank God for all His goodness, love and grace towards us.

Shalom

Bruce
