Why pray?

It may seem like a dumb question, sort of like asking, why do we breathe? We need to breathe to continue to put oxygen in our lungs to continue to live.

We pray for the same reason.   This is a vital aspect of our everyday life with God.  Praying can be ask as simple as a “Thank you Jesus” for the beauty that we see around us, to the agonizing cry of someone praying for friends or family going through a difficult situation.

Then there are times in the Bible, when we are told to put time aside to talk with God. This can be individual, but it can also be corporately.  This is why we have called the church to a time of “Lenten Prayer”

One the Scriptures we are focusing on in our prayer is 2 Chronicles 7:14

If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, pray, seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

Our desire in praying together is to take time from our day, and seek God together. We gather in the church office between 5-6pm. We know not everyone can make that time, so please find a time that works for you and join us in seeking God’s healing for our nation.

If you sense God is saying something to you during this time, please feel free to pass it onto any of the church leadership.  We would love to hear from you.
