Lent – for those who have no idea what lent is about; “Lent is a time of repentance, fasting and preparation for the coming of Easter. It is a time of self-examination and reflection.”1

As a church leadership, we are calling all those who call Avonhead Baptist Church their spiritual home, to join us in prayer during the period 15th February to Thursday 29th March. Our gathered times of prayer are:

15th February daily – evening prayer 5-6pm in the church office.

Sunday evenings from 25th February, we will be joining with other Baptist church to pray together and seek God. (Details to follow)

For us, the theme of this year’s prayer is based around two Scriptures:

Jeremiah 24:I will give them a heart to know that I am the Lord; and they shall be my people and I will be their God, for they shall return to me with their whole heart.

2Chronicles 7:14 if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, pray, seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

We are asking God for a heart to know and a heart to make Him known to the people of Avonhead, Christchurch and beyond.

Not everyone will be able to come to the church office to prayer, but we ask you to pray in your families, your small groups and in your own quiet times that God would give us His heart.

So please join together with us as we seek God for the salvation and healing of our land.

Shalom

Bruce
