I am grateful - 29 October 2017

posted date: Friday 27th October 2017

It is incredibly humbling to be a part of a team of people who care enough about something to put their time and effort into doing things well.

Last weekend is a wonderful example. The amount of time and effort people put into making the 50th celebrations a success an amazing team effort. And amongst it all, it was a lot of fun to be a part of the organising team.

While I could sing the praises of the many who helped out, the standout feature for me is the sense that God is at work and has a purpose and plan. For those who were at the Saturday evening, it was wonderful to hear the stories of God’s goodness and faithfulness during the last 50 years at Avonhead Baptist.

One of the abiding memories for me will be the way the event unfolded without any hitches. Everything just flowed together, and for that I am so grateful to God.

And now, well, for those of us who call Avonhead Baptist Church our spiritual home, we have a task to do.  As a body, we committed ourselves to the task of mission in the days, months and years ahead. So would you join us, the elders and myself, in praying and asking the Lord, what task do you have for me in your mission to Avonhead, Christchurch and beyond.

Lord open our eyes to see as You see, our ears to hear as You hear, and our hearts to beat with Your heartbeat I pray.
